FAQ
Questions we hear often.
Does the AI Act apply to us if we only use AI tools?
Usually yes, as a deployer. That means AI literacy for staff (Art. 4) and transparency duties (Art. 50) where they apply. High-risk duties apply only to certain uses such as hiring or credit. The free AI Act check shows what concerns you.
We are lawyers or tax advisers. Can we use cloud AI?
Professional secrecy (§ 203 StGB) means client data must not reach a cloud provider in plain form. We route requests through Stellwerk Mask, which replaces names and numbers with placeholders, or use models hosted in the EU or on your servers.
Can AI work with health data?
Health data is a special category under GDPR Art. 9. It needs a legal basis, strict access rules and usually EU or on-premise hosting. We design the assistant around that from the start.
We want AI to pre-screen job applicants or grade students. Is that allowed?
It is allowed, but it is high-risk AI under the AI Act, with extra duties from 2 December 2027: documentation, logs, human oversight and data quality checks. We plan for them before building.
